Our
foundress, Geneviève
Dupuis was
born in Paris on January 28th, 1813. Her birth was of
little interest to the rest of the world, she was the fifteenth child
of a family of sixteen and this little child was destined to bring the
light of FAITH across waters into a land which for three hundred years
had been darkened by persecution.
On
April 6, 1834 at the age of 21 she joined the Sisters of St. Paul at
Chartres. Her many
qualities were soon noticed and recognised.
At the age of 33 at the request of a parish priest in England,
supported by his bishop, Genevieve was asked by her congregation to
leave family and friends, her community and native land and go to
England.
